Our courses
The Beginners Course concentrates on conversation, though with the addition of crucial theoretical background instruction. In other words, although the whole of basic Dutch grammar is dealt with, emphasis is on practical language skills. Dutch is spoken in class from the very beginning and groups are kept small so that all students are actively involved in the conversation. Our course book and CD prepare students right from the start for real-life situations.
The Intermediate and Advanced Courses revise basic grammar while extending vocabulary, and again pay a great deal of attention to conversation. But that's not all. A language cannot sensibly be
divorced from the society and culture that produced it. That's why Direct Dutch pays so much attention to the people, the culture and the country we live in.
For those who prefer a total immersion, we offer Intensive Beginners Courses as well as Intensive Intermediate Courses.
After the Direct Dutch Intermediate Course, students are ready for programme 1 of the NT2 (Dutch as a Second Language) exam. For programme 2 we offer a special course, which can be taken after our Advanced Course.
We also set up Business Courses to accommodate companies which prefer to have Dutch lessons on site. Companies can suggest adaptations to the programme, the size of the groups, the frequency of the lessons and their length to suit the needs and requirements of the employees. This enables busy businessmen and women interested in learning something about the Dutch language and culture to enjoy and successfully complete our courses.
